On Father's Day the family and I took my dad up into Big Cottonwood Canyon for breakfast and some hiking. Our picnic site was in Moss Ledge about 5.2 miles up the canyon. We had a really nice day and it was good to have everyone together.
I went up early to get a good site and do a little "
pre-hiking" hike. The Canyon is pretty right now, it's really green, the rivers and streams are running fast and there are a lot of waterfalls from the snow melt.

It was a really nice day to be in the
mountains and we had a lot of fun!

The waterfall and formations were beautiful and I guess I went a little crazy snapping pictures. The formation is the Proterozoic (Precambrian) Big Cottonwood quartzite with interbedded shale and siltstone.
