I have been overly obsessed with the Olympics this year. I watched all weekend and last week I watched whatever I could while I was getting ready for work, at lunch and as soon as I got home. I'm rooting for all the counties, but I have three favorites The US, Germany and Great Britain. So as of today at 11:30am the US are in first place, Great Britain is 6th and Germany is 7th.

Who's in for GSA???

I'm so sad, I don't think that I will make it to the Geological Society of America's annual meeting this year. I've been the last three years. This time it's in Houston and when you add the Hotel room, travel and the price of the Meeting it's too much. The past years I went with groups of friends, and it was much better to split the cost.....if anyone is interested in going let me know, it's always so much fun!!

A Few of My Favorite Things.....

Flash back Friday!!!

For many summers my family would hike Kings Peak. I loved going backpacking with my dad, brothers and sister. These are some of my favorite summertime memories.I was about 16 years old on this hike. Pete (middle), Adam (right) and I were an hour into the hike on our first day, and about ten minutes before I tried jumping over a mud puddle. Yes I got muddy, but in true Erika style kept hiking.

This picture is of Heather and I at Gunsite Pass. I was about 18 years old. On this trip a storm blew in just before we reached the summit. It was so funny because Heather heard buzzing and started to pull off all her clothes looking for a cricket or bug...it was actually the electricity in the air from the storm. But we'll never forget her freaking out.
